I own what is considered the worst job of this century…

Did any of you read this?  I happened upon it searching out opinions on journalism….

[from Forbes.com]

Another endangered species: journalists. Despite the proliferation of media outlets, newspapers, where the bulk of U.S. reporters work, will cut costs and jobs as the Internet replaces print. While current events will always need to be covered (we hope), the number of reporting positions is expected to grow by just 5% in the coming decade, the Labor Department says. Most jobs will be in small (read: low-paying) markets.

If I didn’t feel obsolete before, that pretty much did it. Yet I’m still craving this career that will never pay well, never be the same and never get the respect it used to deserve. This really isn’t news. I know that my career is threatened by so much right now. And it’s dying a slow death. I knew that after college. But still. I try to hope…

I emailed the Forbes snippet to my father to which he wrote something very poignant.

Well you have first hand knowledge of that. People are
more interested in Brittney Spears than real news. The
schools are turning out kids who just want to do
things that are fun. And yes the younger generation
wants to read only what appears on their computer or
their iPhone.

So what now? Teach?

How ya like that women’s vote now?

Hilary Clinton just got it wrong. Women aren’t the women of yesteryear. They don’t care that you get along with your mother. They don’t care that you support women’s rights. All of that in the end never shows in a presidency really except when we finally even GOT the right to vote. They DO care about what’s best for America though and apparently Hilary isn’t it.  I’m not really sure I think Obama is either but Iowa has spoken. And I saw it coming.

I’m not going to deny that I’m a little pleased a black man got past that mostly white state at last night’s caucus. But only because of the principle. It says a lot. It’s seems obvious that Obama showed something that got beyond race and THAT’S what pleases me. That doesn’t mean I will vote for him if it comes down to it just because I’m a black chick. It just means a little history has been made. The same goes for Hilary. I’m not going to vote for a woman just to vote for a woman. I just think today’s voting society, though still very disjointed, is a bit more intelligent than to vote just based on race or gender. Or at least I hope. Yesterday’s results kind of proves that though. Can’t really say Iowa pushed Obama through because he’s black. Please prepare to say I’m wrong though.

As for Huckabee. I don’t even have the time right now to discuss my fears of his win. We’ve still got New Hampshire but you know what they say–you win in Iowa, you win the presidency. Not really true though. Seems Bill squeaked by all those years ago.

He didn’t have a chance, but he looks good…

The before and after shaking your booty for over a month…

This will be my last Dancing with the Stars post. I’m not a fan of having a blog that tracks shows and crap. I refuse — but will retract my refusal if something like a dancer passes out again or kills someone.
I’m writing this because our own (Dallas’ demigod) Mark Cuban has been booted off. No real surprise. Those facial expressions were just bananas and so many people didn’t like that he didn’t dance seriously. But what good old Cuban did do was have fun and shed about 30 or more pounds. Just look at the BEFORE picture to the left.

Anyway, he lasted longer than most bets probably surmised. He’ll be alright as you all must surely need to know. He’ll comfort himself with his special pillows filled with the good green dough and distract himself focusing on those new irons in the fire with all that mixed martial arts stuff. All I know is that the Cowboys better win, the Mavs and the Rangers to make up for this Dallas disappointment. I shed a tear…

We’ll always have Emmitt.
